Mrs. Cleveland Almeria Grubbs, better known as "Granny Grubbs," age 90 of Griffin, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Brightmoor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Grubbs was born on December 8, 1923, in Franklin County, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas H. Morgan and Addie Presley Morgan, and her husband, Douglas H. Grubbs. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Hutcherson Morgan, James Morgan, Alan Morgan and her sister Juanita Davis.
Granny Grubbs was an avid gardener who spent many happy hours cultivating her favorite flowers. She loved to travel with her friends and always enjoyed her Saturday night dinners with "the girls." Granny's love of children was evident in her careers as a kindergarten teacher as well as an instructor at the Griffin AARC. Granny Grubbs, a member of her beloved church Crestview Baptist for over 40 years, served in many capacities but she truly loved rocking the babies in the nursery.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Olen and Melinda Grubbs, Doug and Gayla Grubbs, Joey and Kitty Grubbs, Carl Grubbs and his fiance Rita Johnson; grandchildren, Michelle and Daran Stoudemire, Nathan and April Grubbs, Matt and Molly Grubbs, Justin and Amber Grubbs, Joey and Katy Grubbs, Sam Prestage, Sarah Prestage, Adam Grubbs, Brandon and Lindsey Grubbs, Kristen and Jordan Davis, Andy Fountain, David and Mary Fountain, Chris Grubbs, Josh Grubbs, Savannah Grubbs; great grandchildren, Dylan, Caitlyn, Ellie, Caleb, Lillian, Chloe, Twyman, Brailey and Braxton. Mrs. Almeria Grubbs is also survived by a brother, Thomas Morgan, two sisters Doris McClain and Barbara Maddox, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Family Retreat Scholarship Fund at Crestview Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Almeria "Granny" Grubbs.
