Almetta Ghent

Mrs. Almetta Outen Ghent, 74, formerly of Lancaster, widow of Heyward Shermon Ghent, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016.  She was born November 18, 1941 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late Walter Coleman Outen and Eula Matilda Catoe Outen. Mrs. Ghent was a member of Catawba Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Ghent loved to fish, sing, work in her yard, garden and working with her flowers. She enjoyed watching NASCAR races and television, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ghent will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1 pm at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ghent is survived by a son, Shermon H. Ghent and his wife Crystal of Lancaster; two daughters, Robbie Self Wright and her husband Ricky of Lancaster and Sherry Ghent Kelly and her husband Mike of Kingsland, GA; nine grandchildren, Jeff Wright, Wendy Pate, Amber Kelly, Michael Kelly, Victoria Kelly, Tiffany Ghent, Kimberly Ghent, Heather Ghent and Haley Ghent; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt Pate, Little Mike Pate, Lee Pate, Tabitha Wright and Lillian Grace Wright; and two great-great grandchildren, Logan Pate and Nevaeh Pate. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Outen. Edward Outen and Walter Outen; and three sisters, Vivian Lucas, Mary Anne Outen and Annie Ruth Outen.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Shermon and Crystal Ghent.
