Alton Lee "Skipper" Boone, Jr.

Mr. Alton Lee “Skipper” Boone, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, November 14
th
, 2023 at his home in St. Marys, Ga with his wife, daughter, and grandson by his side, just as he wanted.
Mr. Boone was born on July 3 rd , 1941 in Woodbine, Ga. to the late Alton “Jepp” and Hilda Boone, Sr. Skipper was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's, except for his time in the Air Force during Vietnam. He worked at Gilman Paper company for 42 years. He loved his old VW bug, old car shows, fishing, and football. He always loved watching the Camden County Wildcats, Jacksonville Jaguars and the UGA Bulldogs.
Skipper was a high school football official for over 50 years. He always loved being on the field. He mentored many young men over the years here in Camden County. He never turned down the chance to work a football game. Later in life he loved spending time with his wife Grace of 42 years, daughter Stacy and grandson Kosta.
Mr. Boone is survived by his wife, Grace Boone, of St. Marys, Ga.; his daughter, Stacy Boone of St. Marys, Ga.; his son, Richard Boone of Hortense, Ga.; his sisters, Donna (Scott) Pickering and Sandra (Mike) Dixon, all of Kingsland, Ga.; his grandson, Kosta; and his special friend, Buddy McGinn.
A visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am Monday November 20 th , 2023 at Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys, Ga. Funeral Services will begin at 11 am in the church with Pastor James Roberson presiding. Internment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. Gold Coast Officials Association and Gilman Workers will be Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Boone’s name to Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys, Ga.
