Mrs. Annette Michelle Thornton, age 60 of St. Marys, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus in the early morning hours of Monday, September 27th, 2021 in Brunswick, Ga.
Mrs. Thornton was born on January 21st, 1961 in Jackson, Mi. to Bruce Harlow and Tanya Hawes.
Annette was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Her pride, concern for others needs and military discipline served her well at her new occupation as a cargo interchange specialist and shipping clerk at ports in Fernandina and most recently Jacksonville’s port. Annette was a member of Awakening Church in St. Marys.
She had the warmest smile and a huge heart for all people. She always put others needs before her own.
She loved spending time with her family, friends, and beloved dog, Stella (Stella Belly Puddin Pie). Her hobbies included anything that included Chance, Chance, and more…Chance. She enjoyed dark chocolate, windchimes, and lighthouses. She especially liked to shop for sickly plants at Lowes so she could bring them home and let them die properly (LOL). Annette was a mother to many and will be greatly missed, especially her mama bear hugs.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her husband, Robert Thornton, Jr. of St. Marys, Ga.; her children, Angela Thornton and Robert Thornton, both of St. Marys, Ga.; her parents, Bruce Harlow of Moultrie, Ga. and Tanya Hawes of South Hill, Va.; her sisters, Jannette (Jeff) Haskins of Boydton, Va. and Laura (Del) Penn of Virginia Beach, Va.; her brother, Randy Hawes of Jackson, Mi.; and her grandson, Chance Davis of St. Marys, Ga; countless friends and a huge extended family and her beloved dog, Stella Louise Thornton.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in passing by her brother, Rayce Hawes.
A visitation for the Thornton Family will be Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga. A celebration of Mrs. Thornton’s life will follow immediately at 2 pm in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Mike Roddy presiding.
