Annie Ruth Woods, 82, of St. Mary's, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Brunswick, Georgia. She was born Wednesday, July 8th, 1942 in Straville, Mississippi to the late Lonnie Lewis and Alma Lewis.
She graduated from Aggie High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Annie worked 30 plus years at March Air Force Base Credit Union, before retiring. Her interest and hobbies included shopping, listening to R&B music (Motown specifically), playing card games (Pinochle which was also a passion of her late husband Samie Lee Woods Jr.), and spending time with family and friends.
Annie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Samie Woods Jr, Louise Lovelady (sister), and James Lewis (brother); She is survived by Annie L. Rogne (sister), Jake Lewis (brother); two children, Letitia (Dwayne) Holland (Kingsland, GA) and Samie L. (Delonda) Woods, III (California); seven grand-children, Ebony Y. (Jeff) Hoggard (Kingsland, GA), Dwayne D. (Tiesha) Holland, Jr. (Yulee, FL), David L. (Ashley) Crosby-Holland (Brunswick, GA), Lonnie D. Woods (Savannah, GA), Donnisha Hughey (California), Daja Hughey (California), and Dayveon Wooden (California); eleven great-grandchildren, Noah Anthony Jackson, Jayden Nikolas, Natasha Alderman, Dwayne D. Holland III, Dy'zon D. Holland, and Nala Holland; extended relatives to include Zora (Randy) Shuck, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
"Mama Ruby" had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and cherished. In her presence, you felt like family, embraced by her unwavering love and kindness. Her remarkable spirit, filled with grace and compassion, will forever be etched in our hearts. As we navigate the deep sorrow of her passing, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit continues to shine brightly through the love she shared with all of us. Her legacy of warmth and care will remain a guiding light, inspiring us to honor her memory in our everyday lives.
