Mrs. Barbara Joan Ivey, age 84, of Griffin, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice after a three year battle with her health.
Mrs. Ivey was born on February 27, 1933 in Atlanta, GA to the late Glenn and Lillian Wingo. She was a member of the Winters Chapel Methodist Church in Doraville. Mrs. Ivey worked at Stein Printing and Southern GF Company in Atlanta, but for the last 48 years, she has been a loving and caring mother to her mentally challenged daughter. She was always willing to help a friend in need and will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Ivey is survived by her husband of 58 years, E. W. Ivey, Jr.; daughter, Glenda Ivey; very best friend, Cecilia Dell Carroll, her husband, Charles and her sons, Joshua and Geoffrey; sister-in-law, Betty Higgins; nephew, Steve Higgins and his wife Carla; niece, Regena Thompson; friends, Michelle Gentry and Audrie Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Joan Ivey will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11 am in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend Terry Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in Roberta City Cemetery in Roberta, GA. Friends may visit the family Friday evening from 5 pm until 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
