Mrs. Betty Jean Dixon , age 83 of the Clarks Bluff Community in Kingsland, Ga. passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 after a valiant fight against cancer.
Mrs. Dixon was born on August 2nd, 1932 at Edge Hill, Ga. She is the daughter of the late James Lawson & Dovie Morgan Newsome. Mrs. Dixon married Harvey J. Dixon, Jr. on August 14th, 1948 in Savannah, Ga. They shared 67 years of life and love together until Mr. Dixon’s passing in 2015. In her working years, Mrs. Dixon was employed at Kraft Bag in St. Marys, Ga. and later in the food services for the Camden County School System. Mrs. Dixon was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her sweet smile will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by her sons, Johnny Dixon of Kingsland, Ga., Richard Dixon (Ann) of Kingsland Ga., Barry Dixon of Kingsland, Ga.; her sister, Myra Poole Able if Miss.; her grandchildren, Christy Dixon, David Dixon, Alexander Dixon, all of Kingsland, Ga. and four great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Dixon was preceded in passing by her sisters, Nancy Cushman, Mae Martin & Sarah Connell, her brothers, Harry & Rouse Newsome and her granddaughter, Ashley Dixon.
Calling hours for the Dixon family will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. with Pastor Brian Parker of Kingsland First Baptist Church presiding.
