Betty went home to meet Jesus on Saturday, November 30th at the age of 94.
Betty was born on May 4th, 1930 to Allie and Dollye Durden in Stillmore, GA.
Betty met the love of her life David Monroe when she was going to business
school in Atlanta, GA. They married and lived in Atlanta until his death.
She later moved to Woodbine GA and worked at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base
until she retired. Betty was a loyal servant of the Lord, dedicating her
time to teaching a Sunday School class for many years at First Baptist of
Woodbine until a few months ago. She loved the church and was passionate
about sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ with as many
people as possible.
Now that Betty has passed into the arms of our Lord, we are reminded that
while this is the end of Betty's physical life, it's the beginning of an
eternal and beautiful journey for her to join her parents Allie and Dollye
along with her beloved husband David and her niece Vicky Bruce in Heaven.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Jewel McCallum, her brother Jerry
Durden (Donna), nieces and nephews, Robin Young (Alan), Christi Musgrove
(Ben), Emilie (Eric), Ryan, Taylor (Corinna) along with many loving family
members as well as her church family at First Baptist Church of Woodbine.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Woodbine on Wednesday,
December 4th at 11am with Revered Brett Prince Officiating. She will be
buried at Colesberg Cemetery beside her husband David.
