Mrs. Betty Joyce Ray , age 76 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 18 th , 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Georgia.
Mrs. Ray was born in Woodbine, Ga. on April 2 nd , 1942. She is the daughter of the late John L., Sr. & Joyce Miller Walker.
Mrs. Ray was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful friend to all. She loved to cook and most people know her for her fried chicken, potato salad, divinity, chocolate delight, homemade biscuits, peach cobbler, and sweet tea. When she wasn’t in the kitchen you could find her in the garden working on her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed sewing and all sorts of arts & crafts. Many people around know how much she loved and enjoyed riding the buggy with her husband picking up cans. But, most of all she loved taking care of all her family and friends. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Vernon F. Ray: her daughters, Patricia Pedigo of Woodbine, Ga. and Wanda (Ken) Marshall of Kingsland, Ga.; her brother, Donald Walker of Brunswick, Ga.; her grandchildren, Brenda (Arnel) Douglas of Kingsland, Ga., , Eugene Strowbridge of Bemidji, Mn., Megan (Kris) Lair of Biloxi, Ms., Olivia Lowery of Woodbine, Ga.; her great grandchildren, William Stettler, Kaitlyn Lair, Madison Lair, Apollo Douglas & Kaiden Lair, and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Ray joins her brothers, Isaac & JW Walker in Heaven.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 3 pm on Saturday, July 21 st , 2018 with a memorial service to follow at 4 pm, all at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga. Pastor Edward Flader of the First United Pentecostal Church of Kingsland, Ga. will preside over the services.
The family requests any flowers to be given in her honor be live plants.
