Mrs. Betty Riordan

Mrs. Betty Riordan, age 79, of Griffin, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Riordan was born in Ft. Pierce, FL on November 11, 1936 to the late James R. Black and the late Hazel Gunter Black. She had a heart for missions and teaching and sharing the gospel with children. She served 13 years as camp director for the Flint River Baptist Campground and was also a state officer for the Women’s Missionary Union. Betty and Jerry joined Second Baptist Church in 1973 where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school, children’s church, the Girl’s in Action and attending mission trips all over the world.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Riordan of Griffin, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Steve Young; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Laurie Riordan of Griffin, GA, Tim and Sandra Riordan of Newnan, GA, and David Riordan of Griffin, GA; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Canfield of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gayle Hatfield and Sheryl Payne both of Palm Bay, FL; brother Donald Black of Anderson, SC.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Riordan will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Second Baptist Church of Griffin. Dr. Tim Riordan and Dr. David Hill will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Flint River Baptist Association and designate your gift to the Betty Riordan Mission Fund at P.O. Box 1059 Experiment, GA 30212-1059 in Mrs. Riordan’s memory.
