Mrs. Beverlee “Bev” Janet Buenning , age 73 of the Caney Place community in Kingsland, GA passed away on the late afternoon of Monday, February 13th, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Hospital Riverside in Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Buenning, the daughter of the late Ernest Charles & Mabel Elvy Florell Olson was born in Watertown, South Dakota on May 13th, 1943.
Bev grew up on a farm near Lake Norden, South Dakota and attended school at Bethel College and South Dakota State University where she earned her Master’s in Home Economics. She taught classes at Beresford and Brandon Valley South Dakota high schools. During this time, she met her husband, Lester who was attending seminary. They were married on March 26th, 1970. Bev’s greatest joy and satisfaction was raising their son, Brice, and working with Les at churches in South Dakota, Kansas, and North Dakota. Bev’s boundless gifts of hospitality, creativity, and sharing spirit touched many lives. Her much loved caramel cinnamon rolls were evidence of that gift. Bev devoted her time to teaching others through Women’s Missionary Fellowship, Sunday School, and Children’s Church. She left a musical legacy as church organist and piano teacher. Bev was also a skilled seamstress making many of her family’s clothes, including her wedding dress, men’s dress shirts, and suits. When Bev returned to work outside the home at Northwest Fabrics and Crafts in Fargo, North Dakota, Pampered Chef, and the local food bank provided an opportunity for working in areas that she always enjoyed. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Mrs. Buenning is survived by her beloved husband, Les Buenning of Kingsland, GA.; her son, Brice & his wife, Tammy Buenning of Yokosuka, Japan; her sister, Lois & her husband, Maynard Hughes of Bradenton, Fl.; her brother, Roger & his wife, June Olson of Aitkin, MN.; her grandchildren, Michaela & her husband, Judah Hawthorne of Prescott Valley, AZ and Olivia Buenning of Yokosuka Japan and their seven nieces.
