Mr. Billy Tucker Blackmon, age 89, of Cedartown, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 11, 2013. Mr. Billy Blackmon was born on March 16, 1924 in Griffin, GA. to the late Walter Lee and the late Corrine Ball Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Stephen Bendek; sister, Linda Blackmon Nixon; brothers, Bennie Blackmon and Ray Blackmon.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Evelyn Stallings Blackmon; daughter, Candace Lynn Bendek of Cedartown, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Daye Blackmon of Griffin, GA; daughter-in-law, Mary Thomas Bendek of Cedartown, GA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Paul, Jackie, Matthew, and Olivia Moye of Franklin, TN, Mark and Christie Samojedny of Chicago, IL, Tucker, Kelly, Liam, and Camden Blackmon of Cleveland, TN, Courtney Blackmon of Griffin, GA, Jonathan, Hope, Noah, and Ella Grace Weaver of Rome, GA, Bryan, Tiffany, Taylor, Landon, and Ayden Bendek of Rome, GA; nieces and nephews, Stacy Blackmon of Frankfort, KY, Sheryl Blackmon of Locust Grove, GA, Ray Nixon of Watkinsville, GA, and Bob Nixon of Griffin, GA.
Billy was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Griffin. After working 37 years for Colonial Baking Company in Griffin, he retired to start a new career as an officer with Kirk Blackmon’s company, Georgia Sunroom, for another 18 years.
Billy was dearly loved by his family and friends because he always put others first and gave unconditional love with a servant’s heart. He was a soft spoken man, but his actions and life spoke volumes for GOD’s love. He was a true southern, Christian gentleman and Heaven is much improved with his presence. He will be dearly missed and loved by all that knew him.
