A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Mrs. Buren Stewart, 92, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March, 8th, 2014 at Somerby Assisted Living of Peachtree City.
She was born in Fayette County, Georgia on July 21, 1921. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kimsey R. Stewart; parents, David Cleveland Foster and Mary Ann Stinchcomb Foster; brothers and sisters; Joe Foster, Mary McElheney, Randolph Foster and Mae Wiggins; son-in-law, David Herrin.
Mrs. Stewart graduated from Spalding County High School and attended business classes in Griffin, Georgia. She worked for Spalding County in many areas; Board of Education, Clerks Office, and Tax and Tag Office. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Griffin. Mrs. Stewart was respected and loved by everyone she met.
Survivors include her children, Delores and Jim Merritt, Dianne Herrin, and Allen Stewart: grandchildren, Jason and Freedom Merritt, Alesha Merritt, Debbie and Mark Preston, Cathy and Shawn Laux; Aubrey Herrin and Lara Deni; great grandchildren, Stephen Merritt, Brandon Merritt, Nathan Merritt, Duncan Merritt, Benjamin Herrin, Hannah Preston, Stuart Preston, Joshua Laux, and Olivia Laux; several nieces and nephews.
A crypt side service for Mrs. Buren Stewart will be held on Monday, March 10th, 2014, 2:00 pm at the Oak Hill Mausoleum in Griffin. Pastor Steve Pattison will officiate.
