Mr. Charles William Gale, age 87 of St. Marys, Ga., passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga.
Mr. Gale was born on November 27th, 1934 in Brunswick, Ga. to the late Robert and Sarah Gale. Charles married the love of his life, the late Anita Huggins, on June 28, 1956. The two of them lived a charmed life together until her passing in 2017. Charles spent most of his working career at Gilman Paper Company. He retired after 32 years of employment. Prior to his passing, he commented that he had enjoyed his job and everyone he had worked with.
Charles was an avid sportsmen, not only did he enjoy watching, he also had a long career of playing baseball and softball. He had a great love for the Atlanta Braves and the Florida Gators. Charles also enjoyed fishing and camping. Many years were spent at Lake George fishing with family and friends. He loved big! He loved his family. He loved his friends. He will be missed by both.
Mr. Gale is survived by his daughters, Karen (Robert) Bailey of Woodbine, Ga. and Denise (Scott) Teston of Kingsland, Ga.; his sister, Susie Stephens; his brothers, Robert (Pam) Gale and Mike Gale; his grandchildren, Mandy Bailey, Ryan Bailey, Brooke (Brandon) Blackburn, and Jordan (Asa) Sanes; and his eight great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gale joins his beloved wife, Anita Gale; his sisters, Ann Holloway and Melba Holliday; and brother, Jimmy Gale in Heaven.
Calling hours for Mr. Gale’s family will be from 1 pm to 2 pm Thursday, November 17th, 2022 at the Harbor Worship Center in Kingsland, Ga. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm at the church with Pastor Roy White presiding. Special music will be provided by Pepper Kinsey. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. Pallbearers will be Booster Kinsey, Joe Blackburn, Gary Davis, Jack McCollough, Al Huggins, and Johnny Ingram.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Gale’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Lung Association, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
