Mr. Charles Edward Grigsby, Sr., age 84 of St. Marys, Ga., passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, December 24
th
, 2023 at Lakes Crossing Senior Center in Kingsland, Ga.
Mr. Grigsby was born on August 3
rd
, 1939 in Sedalia, Mo. to the late John and Charlesteen Grigsby.
Butch proudly served as a United States Marine from 1956-1963. He served in Japan and Korea theaters. After the military he was involved in the ground floor development of nuclear power plants. He worked at the Nevada test site being involved in many experiments in nuclear power. This experience allowed him to progress to being a nuclear plant manager in which he retired in 2000. He truly enjoyed wood-working and could meticulously make anything out of wood. He made several pieces for his family that will continue to be passed on to younger family members.
Mr. Grigsby is survived by his son, Chuck (Tina) Grigsby of St. Marys, Ga.; his daughters, Cheryl Ann (John) Lindigrin of Vicksburg, Ms. and Cynthia Landry of Maringouin, La.; his brother, Gary (Anita) Grigsby of Warrensburg, Mo.; his grandchildren, Anelyse (Robert) Jacobs, Brandy Pitts, Terry (Amy) Wooten, Dustin Landry, Jennifer Vanshaak, Jessica Carlson, Ashley (Keith) Crumb, John Patrick Grigsby.
His Great great children are Keegan Jacobs, Ann Jacobs, Julia Jacobs, Lilyanna Wooten, Demi Wooten, Dalton Nowell, Colton Carlson, Colby Carlson, Grady Dunaway, and Kyler Landry; along with his four legged child, Gigi Grigsby.
Besides his parents, Mr. Grigsby was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Grigsby and his sister, Sheila Lunsford, step-mother Nellie (Mimi) Bottom, and step-father Leo Bottom.
Memorial Services will be held privately by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Grigsby’s name may be made to the Semper Fi Fund at thefund.org/donate.
