Clifford Manning

April 2, 1933 — September 14, 2023

Clifford M. Manning departed this earth on September 14, 2023 to enter his eternal resting place with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was born on April 2, 1933 at Bullhead Bluff, GA. He is predeceased in death by his parents Damon Britton Manning and Bertha Bennett Manning, and his youngest daughter Sandy Moyers and son- in-law Hank Moyers. He had 9 siblings who left to go to their resting place and were waiting for him when he entered the gates of Heaven.  They are Rufus Cooler, Nettie Marr, Bernice Reed, Ford Manning, Colby Manning, Newton Manning, Owen Manning, William Manning, and Carroll (Hoppy) Manning.

He met the love of his life while serving a tour of duty in Germany and captured her heart. He put a ring on her finger in February of 1956.  They had 67 glorious and memorable years together before he went to his eternal home.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Theresia and 4 children- Sonja Manning of Woodbine, GA, Maryann Becker (Lonnie) of Woodbine, GA, Clifford Manning (Rachel) of St Marys, GA, and Ricky Manning (Julie) of Bullhead Bluff (Folkston), GA.

He was blessed with 6 grandchildren to carry on the Manning family traditions; Mandy Dearborn (Brady), Gabe Manning (Gena), Jenifer Coulliette (Buck), Ryan Clements (Stephen), CJ Watts, and Kyle Manning. He was also blessed with numerous great- grandchildren.

He served in the US Army from 1952 - 1972 during the Korean War and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam war.  He was highly decorated receiving the silver star, bronze star, and many other accolades during his career. He was an ROTC instructor at Georgia Tech before transitioning into civilian life. He was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in July of 2018. He began civilian life at Thiokol as a maintenance supervisor and after 10 years went to work at Johnson Controls at King Bay Naval Base where he eventually retired in 1995.

His golden years were spent doing what he most enjoyed fishing, hunting, working around the house and yard, and visiting the North Georgia Mountains. He especially loved his family time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  But the love of his life and partner Theresia (honey) brought him many special moments and happiness throughout his 90 years.

He was a very humble and godly man who always had a kind word for everyone. He loved God, his family, and country. He will be truly missed by all, especially for his infectious smile.
