Mr. Daniel Wimbush, Sr.

Mr. Daniel Wimbush, Sr., age 69, of Griffin, was called home Monday, November 30, 2015 at Emory University Hospital, Decatur, GA.
Daniel Wimbush, Sr. was born October 30, 1946 to the late George Quincy and Christine Wimbush in Griffin. He attended Fairmont High School.
Daniel’s life’s journey began when he moved to Newark, New Jersey where he lived for twelve years. He later returned to his home roots in 1980. Daniel fathered four children, three with the late Bobbie Jean Wimbush, his wife of 36 years. Thereafter, Daniel entered into matrimony with Dorothey J. Wimbush for fourteen years. Daniel retired from Kawneer where he worked as a Material Handler. He spent his free and relaxing time outdoors playing golf and fishing with family and friends. Daniel lost his battle with life due to complications with heart disease.
Although Daniel gave his life to Christ at a very early age, he rededicated his life to the Lord on October 16, 2005 where he enjoyed worshiping the Lord at Eighth Street Baptist Church, where Antoine C. Lucas, Sr. is the Pastor.
Daniel is survived by his wife Dorothey Wimbush; sons, Darrell B. James (Mazie), Reginald Wimbush (LaToya), and Daniel Wimbush. Jr.; daughter Sharon Smith (Willie) of Hampton, GA; step-children, Tommy Smith, Jr. (Quintina), Cornelius Smith, Karen Smith, Rodney Smith (Shaquisha) and Reginald Hunt (Tamika); sister Linda B. Champion (Hubert) of McDonough; brothers, George Q. Wimbush of Newark, New Jersey, Nellie Wimbush, David Wimbush, Clifford Laster and Harold Laster; step-siblings, John T. Sutton, Robert A. Sutton, Karen Morgan (Thomas), John Smith, Homer D. Smith (Dorothy) and Samuel Smith; twenty-five grandchildren, one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Daniel Wimbush, Sr. will be conducted on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Eighth Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Antoine Lucas will officiate. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
