Delores Mccollough

September 21, 1937 — May 16, 2024

Delores Peeples McCollough, 86, of Woodbine, GA passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus to spend eternity in her Heavenly Home on May 16, 2024.

Delores was born on September 21, 1937 to Albert and Clifford Peeples (aka Daddy Albert and Bigmama).  She married her devoted, loving husband of 67 years, Edward, on November 2, 1956 at Kingsland First Baptist Church.

Delores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was known to most as “Mema”.  She was a generous, kind, loving person and a wonderful caregiver to all.  She enjoyed keeping her yard beautifully groomed and growing flowers in her many greenhouses.  She also enjoyed caring for her fuzzy canine companions.

Along with her husband, Delores was a true and faithful servant of our Savior Jesus Christ.  She was a charter founding member of New Hope Baptist Church.  After moving to Woodbine in the late 1970s, she joined First Baptist Church of Harriett’s Bluff and helped with the construction of the sanctuary.  She served as a pianist, a deacon’s wife, and provided transportation to Sunday School, Church, and various activities for youth in the Harriett’s Bluff area.

Delores is survived by her children Sylvia Stanley (Toby) of Woodbine and Joseph Edward (Eddie) McCollough, Jr. (Julia) of St. Marys; her grandchildren, Joseph Lee McCollough (Mary) of St. Marys, April Frawley (Randy) of Woodbine, Jessica Clifford (Brandon) of Woodbine, Charlie McCollough of St. Marys; her great-grandchildren Emma and Claire McCollough of St. Marys, Gabe and Xander Frawley of Woodbine, Ryland and Kinsley Clifford of Woodbine.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, Albert and Clifford Peeples; her sister, Alberta Gay; and her brother, Jack Peeples of Jacksonville, FL.

A family graveside service will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, GA. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 1 pm. Pastor Paul Roberson will be officiating.
