June 8, 1937 – July 14, 2017

Mr. Elbert Dudley Padgett, age 80, of Griffin, GA passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Elbert Dudley Padgett was born June 8, 1937 to the late Lillie Tolbert and James Padgett. Elbert is also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Edna Ruby Turner Padgett, son Michael Kevin Padgett and brother, Inas Padgett.

Elbert was a life-long resident of Griffin GA. He was a veteran and served in the Army from April 1956 to 1959. He enjoyed refinishing old furniture, games, gardening and raising poodles with his late wife Edna. Elbert loved his wife and family dearly. He worked at Holan until they closed and at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Barnesville GA

We are giving Elbert to Jesus where he can find peace from his long time suffering.

Survivors include his daughter Michelle Kimberly Padgett and son in law Timothy Paul Padgett; grandchildren, Joshua Laster and wife Michelle, and Rex Laster and wife Britanie; great grandchildren Collin, Pasilee, and Caraline; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to family, friends and strangers that helped Elbert in his time of need.

Funeral services for Mr. Elbert Dudley Padgett will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend Billy Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
