Ms. Elfie Alberta Dasher , age 91 of the Clarks Bluff community in Kingsland, passed away at Folkston Park Care in Folkston, Ga. on the early afternoon of Monday, April 21st, 2014.
Ms. Dasher was born on October 15th, 1922 in Effingham County, Ga. She is the daughter of the late Carl Dasher and Annie Lee Nease Dasher. Ms. Dasher was a child of the depression. Her fortitude and perseverance was self-evident in everything she put her mind to because of those tough times and she was not afraid of hard work.
Ms. Dasher worked in a delicatessen and later at Union Bag in Savannah. She later was recruited to work at Kraft Bag in St. Marys as a head inspector and moved to Camden County in March of 1960. She retired in 1985 from Kraft Bag with 25 years of service. Once Ms. Dasher was in Camden County, she began attending Kingsland First United Methodist Church and was a faithful member. She was a charter member of the Citizens State Bank Senior Citizens Club, which allowed her to travel to many destinations across the country. She was one of only three surviving charter members.
Ms. Dasher was an avid bowler, participating in a league in 1963 and bowled until she was 87 years old. She also was passionate about her flowers and gardening. She loved to take serene walks on the beach with her family. Ms. Dasher’s gentle ways and easy laugh will be missed and cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Dasher is survived by her children, Patricia (Charles) Bruce of Kingsland and Danny Dasher of Harriett’s Bluff; her sisters, Ronella Dasher of Guyton and Ella Ruth Forstrom of Evansville, Wi.; her brother, Ronald (Ernestine) Dasher of Guyton; her grandchildren, Robin (Bobby) Taylor, Mike Weaver, Tommy Weaver, Susan (Todd) Saunders, Vanda (Jimmy) Asbell, and Paul (Amy) Bruce; and her great-grandchildren, Jimmy Asbell, Joshua Asbell, Matthew Phillips, Keri Weaver, Lauren Phillips, Lindsay Phillips, and Victoria Saunders.
Calling hours for Ms. Dasher will be from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM Thursday, April 24th, 2014 in the historic sanctuary of Kingsland First United Methodist Church with Pastor Chip Strickland presiding. Interment will follow the service in Homeward Cemetery in Waverly, Ga.
The family requests any memorial donations be made in her memory to the donor’s choice of charities.
