Elizabeth Fiveash

Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Fiveash , 91, of St. Marys, passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Camden Campus late Thursday evening May 27th, 2010.
Mrs. Fiveash was born on January 13th, 1919 in St. Marys. She is the daughter of the late William Richie and Elizabeth MacQuarrie Smith. A lifelong resident of St. Marys, Mrs. Fiveash graduated from St. Marys High School and worked as a telephone operator for Camden Telephone and Telegraph. She married Ralph Fiveash in September 1941. They were blessed with fifty-four years together before his death in 1995. After raising her family, she worked for several years at the People’s Bank and enjoyed the daily interaction with her customers.
She was a lifetime member of St. Marys United Methodist Church. She served her church in many capacities, which included ringing the church bell for services as a child, singing in the choir and being an active member of the United Methodist Women.
She will be remembered as a loving sister, wife, grandmother and friend. Her family and friends celebrate her life. We were blessed by her. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Fiveash is survived by her children, Phyllis F. Porter (Leonard) of Tampa, Fla. and David R. Fiveash (Patricia) of Augusta, Ga.; her grandchildren, David Porter (Gina) of Tampa, Darrin Porter (Valorie) of Tampa, Lacy Bradley of Macon, Ga. and David Fiveash of San Francisco, Ca. Mrs. Fiveash was preceded in death by her sisters Grace McFarland, Ruth Bealey, and Blanche Truesdale; and her brothers, Wilbur R. Smith, and Charles C. Smith, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 31st, 2010 at the old chapel of St. Marys United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Mosely presiding. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the chapel. A graveside committal will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Pallbearers will be Leonard, David and Darren Porter, Jay Smith, Ardis Bennett, Harold Hamilton, Bob Deen, and Leslie Linker.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to St. Marys United Methodist Church, 106 East Conyers Street, St. Marys, Ga. 31558.
