Elizabeth Simons

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Neel Simons, age 83 of Griffin, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Simons was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 12, 1928 to the late Robert William Neel and the late Tommie Louise Park Neel. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Journalism. While attending the University, she was a treasurer and president of Pi Beta Phi sorority, a member of the Mortar Board and secretary of Theta Sigma Phi, a national honorary journalism society. Mrs. Simons was a member of the St. George Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, William “Bill” Simons; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Simons, Robby and Elizabeth “Eli” Simons, all of Griffin; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Simons Hearn and Stephen Tobolowsky of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Bonnie Simons, Robert and William Tobolowsky, Sarah and Keating Simons.

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Elizabeth Simons will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church. Reverend Brian McCartney will lead the service; friends may also visit the family in the Parlor following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Roadside Beautification Wildflower Program in care of Emily Wilbert, 206 East Camp Street, Moreland, Georgia 30259 in memory of Elizabeth Simons.
