Mr. Emmett E. Still, age 90, of Locust Grove, GA passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mr. Still was born on June 29, 1926 in Snellville, GA to the late Alma Hutchins Still and the late Rev. Marshall Lumpkin Still. He was a WW II veteran with the U.S. Navy and served his country on a submarine chaser in the Atlantic. Mr. Still had to exaggerate his age in order to join the Navy at 16 years of age. He proudly served from August 8, 1942 until May 30, 1944. After the service he made a living as a long haul truck driver for 35 years. He was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Ruth Still; son, Dwayne Newton; sisters, Ruth Still, Annie Still; and brothers, Harvey Still, Clark Still, M.L. Still, Calvin Still and George Still.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bobbie Still; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Bob Wilder, Elaine and Wayne Wickstrom; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kathy Still, Gary and Leigh Still, David and Karen Still; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
