Ezekiel Brown

Mr. Ezekiel Elmo Brown , 86 of the Browntown community of Kingsland, passed away Thursday evening, June 11th, 2009 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Mr. Brown is a Camden County native. He was born in Kingsland on August 19th, 1922 and is the son of the late Matthew and Mathilda Robinson Brown. He was married to Mary Blanche Dowling and they shared 58 wonderful years together until her passing in June 1998. Mr. Brown worked in the shipping department at Gilman Paper Company with 35 years of service. He served several terms as County Commissioner for Camden County and was the Honorary Mayor of Browntown. Mr. Brown was a foster parent for over twenty years and was once voted Foster Parent of the Year. He was a member at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kingsland. He will be sadly missed by famliy and friends.
Mr. Brown is survived by his children and their spouses, Denise and John Lavoie of Kingsland, Grace and C.E. Kirkland of St. Marys, Tommy and Janet Brown of Dundee, Fl., and Mike and Deborah Brown of Kingsland; his sister, Kathleen Allen of Satsuma, Fl.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and his wife, Mr. Brown was also preceded in death by his two daughters, Maxine, his oldest daughter and Kim, his youngest daughter.
A visitation was held from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, June 13th, 2009 at the funeral home.
The funeral services were held 2 PM Sunday, June 14th, 2009 in the Edo Miller Chapel in Kingsland with Bishop Henry Allen presiding. Casket bearers were Jeremy Cook, Loren, Lance and Jacob Kirkland and Clay and Bill Brown. Honorary Bearers were Dennis Simpson and the staff at the St. Marys Convalescence Home.
Interment followed in Temple Baptist Church Cemetery.
