Fletcher Buchan

Mr. Fletcher Eugene “Gene” Buchan , 74 of Brunswick passed away early Friday, January 14, 2011 at Southeast Georgia Health System.
Mr. Buchan was born on St. Simons Island on June 1st, 1936 to the late George Talbot and Jesse Brown Buchan. Mr. Buchan resided on St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island for most of his life and was fondly and affectionately known by his beloved family as “Wimp”.  He was an avid angler, hunter, gardener and a die hard “Dawgs” fan.  As a highly skilled carpenter he was most proud of his contribution to the earlier restoration of the Jekyll Island Historic District and the renovation of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
Mr. Buchan is survived by his children, Amanda (Kirk) Holman of Waverly and Jeffrey L. Buchan of Galveston, Tx; his sister Frances Savage Walker of Gainesville, Ga.; his brothers, James Buchan of Waynesville, Donald Buchan of Mt. Pleasant, Clayton Buchan in Illinois, and Gerald Buchan of Jesup; his grandchildren, Megan and Vance Holman, several nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Baby.
A gathering of close family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 PM Monday, January 17th, 2011 at 102 Winchester Road in Waverly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
