Furman L. Oxendine, Sr. Lieutenant Colonel, USAR (retired), age 64, passed away at his home in Woodbine, GA.
He is survived by his sons Furman Lee Oxendine, Jr. and Alexander Nicholas Oxendine, his grandchildren Mackenzie Oxendine and Noah Keaver, his siblings Mary Easterling, Anna Connor, Willie Oxendine, Vicka Jones, Mildred Hodges, Sandra Jones, Habiba El-Ameen, and Felicia Weathers, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae Oxendine.
Furman was born in Claxton, Georgia. He attended Glenville High School in Glennville, Georgia. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southwestern University and was employed as a civil servant at Kings Bay Naval Base with over 30 years of service. He retired from the United States Army Reserve in 2014 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Woodbine First Baptist Church in Woodbine, Georgia. Furman enjoyed church services and spending his time at home. He had a wonderful sense of humor and took very good care of his family and friends. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Woodbine 300 W 8th Street Woodbine, Georgia 31569 on Saturday, Feb 17, 2024 at 11:00a.m. Burial services will be held on February 16, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
