Mrs. Gale Katherine Herring, 63, of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Georgia.
Born on November 5th, 1961, in St. Marys, Georgia, Gale was the daughter of the late Thomas and Glenice Carter. A lifelong Camden County resident, she touched many lives through her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Gale and her devoted husband, Paul Herring, shared nearly 45 beautiful years of marriage. Their anniversary each November was often celebrated in the Tennessee mountains — a cherished fall tradition. Summers were spent together in their backyard oasis, enjoying time by the pool and hosting loved ones. Gale also adored spending time with her grandchildren, Trent, Sutton and Nolan whom she loved so very much and kept her very busy.
Gale was known for her generous heart, always ready to help others in any way she could. She delighted in creating thoughtful gift baskets for birthdays or simply “just because.” A talented crafter, she loved spending time in “Gale’s She Shed,” her personal crafting retreat, where she worked on projects ranging from holiday décor to school assignments with her grandson, Trent.
Christmas was Gale’s favorite time of year, and her home came alive with the spirit of the season — especially her treasured Christmas village that stretched throughout the house. A proud breast cancer survivor, Gale’s strength and grace were evident in all aspects of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Herring, of Kingsland, Ga.; her children, Heather (Jimmie) Adkins of Kingsland, Ga., and Stephen (Alisha) Herring of St. Marys, Ga.; her siblings, Patricia (Tom) Openlander, Sherry Carter, Richard (Bonnie) Carter, Gary (Donna) Carter, and Lance Carter; and her grandchildren, Trent Trotter, Sutton Adkins, and Nolan Adkins and many nieces and nephews. Gale is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bobby Carter.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Georgia.
A graveside service will follow at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Georgia.
