Mr. George Berry, Sr., age 99, of Griffin, GA, departed this life on December 3, 2014 at Spalding Regional Hospital. He was born on July 6, 1915 to the late Emmerson and Leila Vaughn Berry of Spalding County, Georgia. He joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Mae Berry and son George Berry, Jr.
Mr. Berry is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Prentice and Veronica Fears of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Berry, James Berry, Johnny Berry, Jerry and Rhonda Berry, all of Griffin, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Shedrick Relthford of Griffin, Georgia, and Christine and Danny Horton of Griffin, Georgia; one sister, Annie Florence Berry of Griffin, Georgia; one brother, Lloyd and Porta Berry of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Willie Wright and Walter Etheridge, all of Griffin, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Lizzie Evans of Jackson, Georgia and Mary Jane Evans of Milner, Georgia. He leaves behind 20 grandchilden, 32 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. George Berry will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend Eric Burden, Sr. will officiate. Friends may visit the family Friday, December 5, 2014, from 6 pm -8 pm at the funeral home.
