Mr. George Allen Thomas, Sr. age 63 of St. Marys, Ga. passed away Sunday October 2nd, 2016 at the Warner Center of Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, Fl. after a short hospital stay.
Allen was raised in St. Marys, Ga. by his parents, Nona Beatrice Geoghagan & Martin Thomas, Sr. Allen was a graduate of Camden County High School. He was married to Glenda D. Woolard and they had three sons together, Tracy, Stacy and George A. Thomas, Jr. Allen and Glenda’s union didn’t last. He later married Linda Shepps and three more children entered his life; Mary (Jose’) Stiglic, Tammy (Steve) Hook & Eddie (Melanie) Brown. Allen has been an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He loved to fish and be outdoors with his three sons, and also spending time with his grandchildren.
Allen was preceded in passing by his mother, Nona Thomas and his sister, Aleatha Thomas.
Allen is survived by his sons and their spouses, Tracy & Ginny Thomas of Kingsland, Ga., Stacy & Rachael Thomas, and George Allen & Amanda Thomas, Jr. all of St. Marys, Ga.; his father, Martin Thomas of Kingsland, Ga.; his siblings and their spouses, Tommy & Mary Thomas of Colesburg, Ga., Susan & George Perryman of Yulee, Fl., Janie & Ralph Batten of St. Marys, Ga. Harry and Gloria Thomas of Folkston, Ga., and Ruthann & Chet Barry of Melbourne, Fl.; his grandchildren, Kayla Lowder (Matt), Stephanie Thomas (Keannen), Tracie Thomas, Austin Thomas, Glenda Thomas, Georgia Thomas, Gabi Thomas, Carey Barron, James Barron, Trevor Thomas, Michael Hook, Amber Hook, Matthew Brown and Trent Brown; his great grandchildren, Payton Lowder, Matthew Lowder, Maddison Lowder, Mason Lowder, Jackson Miller-Thomas & Raelyn Spencer and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for the Thomas family will begin at 6 PM on Monday, October 10th, 2016 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel in Coastal Camden Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Spradley presiding. The pallbearers will be Carey and James Barron, Austin Thomas, Matthew & Trent Brown and Michael Hook. The burial follow in Pineview Cemetery in Folkston, Ga.
