Howard Wilkes

Mr. Howard Lewis Wilkes, affectionately called “Man” was born December 9, 1936 in Spalding County to the late Ben and Mabel Wilkes. He passed away on August 10, 2012.

“Man” worked for Dekalb County, in a mill, and pucked wood for a living. Even after he retired he loved to work on cars. Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, talking, telling jokes, and spending time with his grandchildren.

“Man” is survived by his wife Alberta Wilkes, his daughter Ronda Raglad and her husband Walter, his three granddaughters, Charquela Ragland, Tazia Ragland, and Zorria Weems and his grandson Ninkita Ragland. He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Mary Gregory of Jackson, GA and Elizabeth Ward of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Matthew Wilkes of Jackson, GA; two brother-in-laws, Jesse James Gregory and his wife Florence of Griffin, GA and Walter Gregory of Hampton, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and family.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wilkes will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery on 1096 Old Cabaniss Road in Forsyth, GA. Friends may visit the family on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
