Iris Norton

Ms. Iris Wynona Norton, age 88, passed away on the evening of Thursday, December 30th, 2021 at her home in St. Marys, Ga.

Ms. Norton was born on December 28th, 1933 in Kathleen, Ga. to the late Mark and Mary Warren. In 1953 she met Roy Norton and then married in Kingsland, Ga. in 1954. She was married for 66 years. Along the way, they had 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

She worked most of her married life as a Medical Assistant and Office Manager. She retired with Roy and they traveled the United States and Canada together. She also volunteered for the Hospital Aux whenever they weren’t traveling. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She was an only child but loved being surrounded by a big family. She helped raise different family members over the years. Her door was always open to family and friends. She was a great Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend to everyone!

Ms. Norton is survived by her children, Gail (Rick) Raulerson, Rita (Jeff) Harrison, and Todd (Dawn) Norton all of St. Marys, Ga., and Lynda (David) Dortch of Columbus, Ms.; her grandchildren, Marci (Jeff) Henry, Chris (Bonnie) Raulerson, Sam (Katie) Norton, Summer (Jordon) McBride; her great grandchildren, Paisley Norton, Ryan McBride, Myles McBride, and Parker Norton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, Ms. Norton also joins her beloved husband, Roy Norton in Heaven.

A visitation will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, January 4th, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of St. Marys, in St. Marys, Ga. Funeral Services will follow immediately at 2 pm at the church with Pastor Steven Kegley presiding. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. Rick Raulerson, Jeff Harrison, Jeff Henry, David Dortch, Austin Oswalt, and Todd Norton will serve as pallbearers.
