Mr. James “Moody” Barkley, age 52, of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Mr. James “Moody” Barkley was born on April 11, 1963 to the late Wiley “Buck” Barkley and the late Savannah Willis-Barkley in Griffin, Georgia. He was a hard worker and was very dedicated to his family and friends. Mr. James “Moody” Barkley went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Wiley Barkley, John L. Barkley and Wadie Barkley; and one sister, Nettie Ellis.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his fiancé , Shameka Bailey; three children, Jarvis Hicks Laroshna Barkley and Ajmon Barkley; stepdaughter, Tamesha Bailey; five grandchildren, Kaliyah Walker, Javion Hicks, Dondre Hann, Javarion Hicks and Ariel McCoy; three siblings, Doris “Dot” Ellis, Andrew “Sam” (Dianne) Barkley and Emma “Sis” Barkley; an aunt, Maggie “Aunt Magg” Bridges; two close nephews, Anthony Dukes and Wiley Barkley; the mothers of his children, Wanda Holmes and Freda Turnipseed; his special friends, Reginald Phillips, Victor Blackmon, Greg Thrash and Dexter McCune; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.

Funeral services for Mr. James “Moody” Barkley will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Griffin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
