Janis Davis

March 19, 1937 — October 15, 2016

Mrs. Janis “Tarpy” Davis , age 79 of Woodbine, Ga. passed away to Heaven on Saturday, October 15 th , 2016 at Hospice Savannah in Savannah, Ga. after a long illness.
Mrs. Davis was born in Brunswick, Ga. on March 19 th , 1937. She is the daughter of the late Gertrude Liles & Riley Harrell, Sr. “Tarpy” was a dedicated volunteer and member of the Old Woodbine School Renovation Committee where she served as secretary.  She had a passion for the Old School and her alumni friends.   She was a Camden County High School graduate in 1955.  She was Camden County High School’s first Homecoming Queen.  Later, she was a dedicated secretarial employee of the National Park Service for Cumberland Island with 20 + years of service and enjoyed the rich history of the island.  She was associated with the Kingsland First Baptist Church’s outreach program.  She was fun loving, hardworking and a caring lady.  She will be greatly missed by both family and friends alike.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her sons, Kelly Davis of Gainesville, Ga., Chris and his wife, Tracy Davis of Rincon, Ga., and Jim Davis of Newton Falls, Ohio; her sister, Joann Flanagan of Woodbine, Ga.; and her four grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah, Rebekah & Jacob Davis.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Davis joins her sister, Jeanne Harrell Clark and her brother, Riley Harrell, Jr. in Heaven.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held graveside at 2 PM on Thursday, October 20 th , 2016 at Homeward Cemetery in Waverly, Ga. with Bros, Terry Brown & Carlos Jones presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark, Robert & Jeff Flanagan, Lee Harrell, Mike Scott, Martin Gillette, Randall Parr, George ‘Docky’ Blake and Roosevelt Butler.
The family requests that any memorial contributions in Mrs. Davis’s honor be made to The Old Woodbine School/ PO Box 372/ Woodbine, Ga. 31569.
