Mrs. Jewell Aline McCook Trey , 81, of Kingsland was called home to her eternal Father early Monday morning January 18th, 2010.
Mrs. Trey is a Mitchell County native, born in Sale City, Georgia on January 3rd, 1929 and is the daughter of the late Hillary and Mae Doris Moulder McCook. A lifelong resident of Southeast Georgia, Mrs. Trey was married to her beloved husband, the late Joseph Samuel Trey, Sr., until his passing on October 20th, 2007. They shared 47 years together.
Mrs. Trey was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church of St. Mary’s, Ga., and is well-known and loved in the community. She worked for Kraft Bag Company from her early twenties until it closed, and then retired again from Winn-Dixie several years later. “Mrs. Jewell” was recognized and stopped for a hug everywhere she went. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and even changed some. Mrs. Jewell’s love for life and new endeavors recently brought her to an interest in painting. Several family members will treasure their original works of art from her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Trey is survived by her daughters, Sherry Davis of Fernandina Beach , FL, Donna (Ronald) Davis-Speakes of Madison , MS, and Anna Williamson of Norcross, GA.; her sons, Jefferson (Barbara) Davis of Kingsland, GA, Louis ‘Buck’ Davis of Kingsland, GA, Steven Davis of Knoxville, TN, and Joey (Debbie) Trey, Jr. of Kingsland, GA; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in the Sanctuary of Victory Baptist Church in St. Marys with Pastor Ed Davis and Pastor Pat Dill presiding. An open viewing will begin at 1pm. Internment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery in Folkston. Pall bearers will be grandsons, Daron West, William Joseph Davis, Joseph Samuel Trey, III, Thomas Steven Davis, Joshua Ryan Trey, Dustin Lee Davis and Geoffrey Lee Williamson.
