Mrs. Joan Crews, 99 years old of St. Mary’s, Georgia passed away at her residence on Monday, February 2, 2026 surrounded by her beloved family
Mrs. Crews was a World War II war bride who left her beloved England to follow her soldier to the United States. They lived most of their married life in St. Mary’s where she worked as an inspector at the St. Mary’s Kraft Bag. Company. In her earlier years, Joan was very involved in ceramics, and she was a huge Braves and Bulldogs fan. Joan was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family which included 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
Joan was married for 64 years to Lester Crews and is survived by 2 daughters Marion Vanzant, her husband, Donnie, and Carol Madsen. She is also survived by two sisters, Mavis and Lil, and a number of nieces and nephews in England. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Lester and her son David.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM at Coastal Camden Funeral Home on February 6, 2026 with Pastor James Roberson presiding. Pallbearers are grandsons Buck Vanzant, Darrell Vanzant, Clay Madsen, Paul Madsen, Brian Madsen, Brett Madsen, David Crews Jr. and Greg Crews. An interment followed in Oak Grove cemetery in Saint Mary’s, GA.
