Mr. Joe “JD” Williamson, Jr.

Mr. Joe “JD” Williamson, Jr., age 88, of Griffin, GA passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Mr. Williamson was born on February 9, 1927 to the late Joe Williamson and the late Lula Pruitt Williamson. He was preceded in death by his brother Guy “Tuffy” Williamson, sister Rosie Jones, brother-in-law Pete Jones and son-in-law Oscar “Jr.” Taylor.
He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and United States Army. Throughout his lengthy career, he was employed by Rushton Mills, the Griffin Post Office for 15 years, and as a truck driver for thirty years. He also co-owned Silver Skates Roller Rink with his brother Tuffy and owned JD’s Cue Room in Griffin. He was a long-term member of Carver Road Baptist Church. He leaves us with many great memories and many life lessons. He lived well and loved life and those who knew him know he is once again skating, skiing and playing pool in his new healthy body. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Thelma Mask Williamson; his daughters Susan Williamson Taylor and Dale Williamson Danner; son-in-law George Danner; grandchildren Lance Taylor, Drew and his wife Anna Taylor, Mandi Danner Wood and her husband Matt Wood, and Dustin Danner; great grandchildren Coleman, Madison, Ty, Gaines and Catharine Taylor and Mayson Wood; brother Ronnie Williamson and his wife Sherry; sister-in-law Betty Williamson; nieces and nephews Randy Williamson and his wife Dana, Todd Williamson and his wife Susan, Tim Williamson and his wife Melanie, Greg Williamson and his wife Tami, Kim Williamson Santerre, Mike Williamson, Rosemary Williamson Brown and her husband John, Mickey Jones and his wife Lisa, and Tony Jones and his wife Darlene; and many great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Joe “JD” Williamson, Jr. will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Brightmoor Nursing Center for their steadfast care and compassion.
