Joel Keith Powers of Griffin, GA died on Monday, June 17, 2013 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Keith was born on April 16, 1964 in East Point, GA. After attending Griffin High School, Keith became a pipefitter and was most recently employed at Century Fire Protection. He lived in the south Atlanta area for many years but eventually returned to his hometown of Griffin. Keith loved fishing and watching NASCAR. He loved all animals, especially dogs, and will be greatly missed by his Boxer, Cane.
He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Linda Powers of Haralson, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Dawn Powers of Brooks; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Robert Waczkowski of Haralson; much adored nephews and a niece; Trenton and Logan Powers of Brooks, Michala and Bradley Waczkowski of Haralson; lifelong special friend, Candy Rivers and like a brother, Bill Williams.
The funeral will be held at Legacy Christian Church, 1150 Rockaway Road in Senoia, GA at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 with Pastor Roy Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Brooks Cemetery in Brooks, GA. The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Christian Church Building Fund in memory of Keith Powers.
