John Erickson

Mr. John Hamilton Erickson, Jr., age 71, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at his home in Kingsland, Ga. surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Erickson was born on July 6th, 1950 in Philipsburg, Pa. to the late John, Sr. and Anna Marie Erickson. John was the son of a career US Air Force veteran and grew up in various locations around the world, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Norway, Michigan, Pakistan, California and Japan, where he graduated in 1969 from Yamato High School near Tokyo. His travels and experiences led him to join the US Air Force in 1971, where he served his country for 20 years.
John was stationed in Germany with the USAF, where he met his future wife, Margaret Rooks. They were married in 1979. During his Air Force career, he was also stationed at Moody AFB, Valdosta, Ga. and RAF Alconbury, England. He retired from the USAF and became a government employee at RAF Lakenheath, England. John and his wife lived in England for several years and after his retirement from the US Air Force, eventually settling permanently in Kingsland, Ga.
Known to his brothers and sister as “Jack”, he was an avid sports fan and in particular, a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, as well as the Penn State Nittany Lions. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and stayed connected with a number of retired Air Force veterans, as well as many friends from England, with whom he had developed strong ties.
Mr. Erickson is survived by his wife, Margaret Erickson of Kingsland, Ga.; his brother, Joseph Erickson and his wife, Kathy of Charlotte, NC. His brother, Jeffery Erickson and his wife, Dana of Simpsonville, SC, his sister, Deborah Harris and her husband, Bill of Osceola Mills, PA, his nephews, Joseph Erickson, Jr., Kris Erickson, John Thomas, Jr., David Erickson, Tim Erickson, Nathan Harris and Trevor Harris.
Besides his parents, Mr. Erickson was also preceded in passing by his brother, Jan Erickson, who is survived by his wife, Sarah.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, January 1st, 2022 in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel of Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga.
