Mr. John Henry “JH” Jordan, age 69, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Brightmoor Nursing Home.
Mr. John was born on November 12, 1944 in Madison, GA, to the late Bertha Jackson. At a young age he moved to Atlanta, became a member of 2nd Mount Olive Baptist Church, and rendered service to the U.S. military. He then worked at the U.S. Post Office where he met his wife, the late Minnie C. Jordan of 42 years who he is in union with. They moved to Griffin where he later retired from Springs Bleachery, as an Inventory Control Clerk.
He leaves to cherish in loving memory, his two sons, John (Chrisanthia) Jordan, Jevard (Celeste) Jordan, both of Griffin; one sister, Helen (Greg) Smith; one uncle, Arron (Irene) Furlow; two aunts, Nell Furlow and Mary Alice Locklin, all of Atlanta. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Emmanuel, Jamal, Jonsanthia, Jaydah, Zecoya, Jevard, Jr., and Jaden Jordan; two nephews, Marcus (Natasha) Smith and Malcolm Smith of Atlanta; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Guerry) Lyons of Griffin, Charlayne Carter of LA; four nieces, Dezondria Johnson of Atlanta, Dorlanda, Undrea, and Alicia Lyons of Griffin; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Jordan will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11am in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Pastor Willie F. Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
