Mr. John Wesley Liles, age 62 of East Bay Avenue in Kingsland, Ga. passed away at his residence with his wife Cathy by his side, in the early morning hours of Monday, December 5th, 2016.
John Wesley Liles was born in Brunswick, Ga. on June 14th, 1954. He is the son of the late Toletha Inez Walker & the late John Quincy Liles. Known to his friends as ‘Wes’ or ‘Wesley’, he became a police officer at 17 years old. As a beat officer, he would patrol the City of Kingsland on foot, as there was only one patrol car at the time. He is the only officer to be promoted through all ranks to reach Chief of Police. He served for 12 years in that capacity before he retired. Overall, Wesley served the city of Kingsland for 32 years as an officer of the law. His hobbies were collecting guns, coins, working on small engines, lawn mowers, riding mowers, tractors, spending time with his grandkids, visiting with friends and enjoying life.
Wesley is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy E. Liles; his children & their spouses, Stephanie & David Wise of Kingsland, Ga., JR & Heidi Conaway and Scott & Marnie Conaway all of Middleburg, Fl.; his grandchildren, Andrew Wise, Hunter Conaway, Christopher Conaway, Ivey Conaway, Lilly Conaway, Brianna Conaway, Mattie Conaway, Izaak Conaway, Rachael Wise, Alexis Wise-Britt, Kirstie Wise, Victoria Phengchanh and Isaiah Valenzuela; and his six great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mr. Liles joins his brothers, Joey & Travis Liles in Heaven.
Calling hours for the Liles family will be from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 8th, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Friday, December 9th, 2016 at the Kingsland First Baptist Church in the old chapel with Pastor Brian Parker presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Wright, Wayne Peeples, Pat Graham, Rick Worley, Randy Gunter, Jim McClain, Andrew Wise, Christopher Conaway and members of the Kingsland Police Department.
