Mr. John R. Smith age 82, of 1314 Ruth Street, Griffin, GA passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Spalding Regional Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born in Union Point, GA on November 6, 1930 to the late Reuben W. Smith and the late Annie Bell Hansford Smith. Mr. Smith had been retired since 1988 and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Korea, being stationed in Alaska. He was a member of Devotee Baptist Church. Mr. Smith enjoyed photography, collecting H. O. gauge trains and anything containing trains, and bonsai plants.
Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by brother, Neil McEachren.
Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Bobby Dunn of Griffin, GA; niece and spouse, Lori and Charlie Horton of Griffin, GA; niece and spouse, Deneen and Ron Grainger of Newnan, GA; many cousins and a very special friend who was like the son he never had, Robert Arnold of Griffin, GA.
