Joyce Garcia

Mrs. Joyce Ann Garcia , age 77 of Kingsland, Ga. went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at the Senior Care Center of St. Marys, in St. Marys, Ga.
Mrs. Garcia was born on January 5th, 1940 in Passaic, New Jersey. Mrs. Garcia is the daughter of the late Anna Conklin and George Kupp. She graduated from Lakewood High School in the spring of 1957 and began to raise a family of six children from 1959 thru 1987. During this time she realized that she needed to further her education in order to pursue her goals and dreams. It’s during this time that she obtained her nursing degree from Ocean County College and was employed by the Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, New Jersey. She moved to Georgia in January of 2001, after retiring from a 30 year nursing career in New Jersey, as she wanted to be closer to some of her children and grandchildren. During the next 16 years she would was involved in the community by participating in various clubs and organizations, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, the Satilla Quilters and Camden Quilters Guild, the PSA Water Aquatics and various activities within First Baptist Church of Kingsland. While serving at First Baptist Church of Kingsland, she helped and mentored ladies of the church in sewing and quilting. She also took painting classes from a local painting teacher to develop her skills as a painter, and did numerous painting while living at SCCSM. A patient friend of hers at SCCSM shared “I saw Joyce every day from the end of November to February 10th , when my husband was in the convalescent center. She was always ready with a greeting and happy to see you. She looked after Sandy and watched if he didn’t eat. She also checked on him when he was there in March of 2016. I will miss Joyce a whole lot, as she was always cheerful. Our prayers for the family. She kept it together.” Mrs. Garcia will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by her children, Cynthia Ann (Dennis, Sr.) Jorgenson of Alburtis, Pa., Thomas (Lynda) Staub Sr. of Kingsland, Ga., Frederick Albert (Ann) Staub of Howell, NJ, Kimberly Victoria (Regis) Cunningham of Fort Collins, Co., Paul Wentworth (Susan) Stephenson of Brick, NJ, Perry Myron Stephenson of Toms River, NJ and Tony (Tammy) Garcia of Jackson, NJ; her eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild; and her brother, Robert Kupp of Lakewood, NJ.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Garcia was preceded in passing by her husbands, Albert C. Garcia, Frederick Staub and Paul Stephenson.
Memorial services for Mrs. Garcia will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday April 17, 2017 at Kingsland First Baptist Church in Kingsland, GA, with Pastor Vernon Dillingham presiding.
The family requests any floral arrangements be live plant or dish gardens.
