Mrs. Joyce Sanders Peters, age 83, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.
A lifelong resident of Barnesville, Mrs. Peters was the daughter of the late Terrell C. Sanders and Margarite Fiveash Sanders. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Goggans, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas N. “Buck” Peters; grandson, Adam Noel Peters; brothers: Terrell Carl “Jack” Sanders, Jr., William Sanders, Bruce Sanders; and sister, Sara Sanders Pierce.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Noel A. “Rusty” and Lynne Peters of Clayton, NC; three daughters and their husbands, Saralyn and Jimmy Fountain of Milner, Jayne and Donn Smith of Barnesville, and Carla and Tony Duncan of Monroe, GA; brother and his wife, Reverend John and Charlotte Sanders of Lexington, SC; sister, June Sanders Tyler of Arab, Al.; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Brightmoor Nursing and Hospice Center staff for the love, affection, and care that was always given to “Petey”.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Johnstonville Road in Goggans, GA. Visitation for Mrs. Peters will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center, 141 Futral Road, Griffin, GA in memory of Mrs. Joyce Peters.
