Mrs. Julia Anne McGahee, age 88 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away at her residence in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 8th, 2023
Anne was born on December 16th, 1934 in Norwood, Ga. She is the daughter of the late Johnny Jasper Hadden & Eunice Elizabeth Watson Hadden.
First and foremost, Anne loved the Lord and loved her family. She instilled Christian values in her children and ensured those values carried over into all parts of their lives. Anne was not a lady who hid her faith, speaking of her love for Jesus with almost anyone she met. Anne served in many capacities in both the Warrenton First Baptist and Kingsland First Baptist Churches, from being a Sunday school teacher to children of many ages to delivering meals on wheels to seniors. Anne was known in her hometown of Warrenton as an excellent cook, baker and cake decorator. She was often sought out by members of the town to bake and decorate cakes for many special occasions. Never a person to be idle, Anne enjoyed a diverse work career starting with Southern Bell as a switch board operator to many different administrative positions and the retail industry. Her steadfast empathy and love for all people will live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Anne is survived by her children, Ricky (Pam) McGahee, Jr. of Bethlehem, Ga., Vicki (Bill) Maxwell of St. Marys, Ga. and Jay (Lisa) McGahee of Flagstaff, Az.; her grandchildren, Clark (Abby) McGahee, Ben McGahee, Whitney Eubank, Jordan (Bella) McGahee and Haylie McGahee; and her seven great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Anne joins her husband, Richard M. McGahee, Sr., her grandson, Christopher Maxwell and her sister, Frances Kitchens in Heaven.
A visitation will begin at 9:15am until the funeral service begins at 10:00am on Monday, March 13th, 2023 at the Kingsland First Baptist Church in Kingsland, Ga. Pastors’ Brian Parker & Vernon Dillingham will preside over the service. Interment will follow at the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, Ga. at 4pm.
