Karen Amelia Millsap , 62 of St. Simons Island passed away at her residence late Thursday evening, April 22, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer.
Mrs. Millsap was born in Chattanooga, TN on May 23, 1947. She is the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred Elizabeth McBrayer Jeffery. Karen and Carl Michael Millsap were married in Dalton, GA on December 7, 1989 and they have shared 20 years of life and love together. Mrs. Millsap is a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga and she later graduated from Nursing School in Cleveland, TN, specializing in neuro-trauma and cardiac care. She became house supervisor at Riverpark Hospital at McMinville, TN. The care of others was her lifes calling, but in her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, reading, crafts, such as making wreaths and flower arrangements and her pets. She is a former member of the Avondale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. She and her husband retired to Saint Simons Island, GA in 2007. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Millsap is survived by her devoted husband, Carl M. Millsap of Saint Simons Island; and her brothers, Larry C. Jeffery and Charles E. (Louise) Jeffery both of Chattanooga, TN; and several neices, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in by her brother, Henry Jeffery.
A memorial celebration of life is planned for a later date. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
