Lucy Horne

Ms. Lucy Matilda Carter Horne , age 83 of Kingsland, GA, passed away on the evening of Monday, January 23 rd , 2017 at the Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys, GA.
Ms. Horne was born July 16 th , 1933 in Waycross, GA to the late Russell Carter, Sr. and Cora Lee Miller Carter.
Her family said of her “Lucy was a devoted wife and mother of four children who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never met a stranger and never turned anyone away from her home or kitchen table. Lucy was always one to attend church and loved to teach her family and others about God. Her love for God and life lived throughout anyone and everyone she ever met. Her one true goal in life was to put everyone before herself. She would always say “I love you, Sug” and ask you to come back soon. She would thank you for everything, even when you’ve done nothing at all. She was always referred to as a true southern belle. Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. How else would you describe the most perfect woman in the world?” She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Horne is survived by her daughters, Wanda Ovshak of Kingsland, GA. and Glenda Wynn(Curran) of Blackshear, GA; her sons, Dennis (Ann) Horne and Don (Kimberly) Horne all of Kingsland, GA; her sisters, Ann Mangham, Dot Sams, Carol Hall and sister in law, Willa Mae (Darrell) Dyal; her grandchildren, Hacie (Robbie) Bladen, Deedee (Chris) Carter, Brandon (Cecily) Horne, Carl (Monica) Horne, Jr., Tyler (Stephanie) Horne, Balaam (Hailey) Horne; her great-grandchildren, Baylee and Rylan Bladen, Aaliyah Grace, Olivia June, Mason, Kenzie, Karleigh, and Londyn Horne.
Besides her parents, Ms. Horne joins her husband of 60 years, Carl Randolph Horne, her sister, Pauline Tyson; her brothers, James, Eugene, Edward, Junior, Ostar, R.L., and Kenneth Carter; and her grandchildren, Kori Wynn and Christopher Horne in Heaven.
Calling hours for the Horne Family will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday, January 27 th , 2017 at the Harbor Worship Center in Kingsland, GA. Funeral Services will begin at 10 am Saturday, January 28 th , 2017 at the Harbor Worship Center with Pastor Mike Sanes presiding. Wendell Ward will also be speaking. Pallbearers will be Brandon, Tyler, Balaam, Carl Jr., Rylan and Jacob. Interment will follow at Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ms. Horne’s name to the American Cancer Society/ PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123, 1-800-277-2345.
