Margaret T. Roth, formerly of West Columbia, SC, entered the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 after a battle with cancer.
Born in Richland County, SC, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Tompkins and the former wife of the late George W. Roth. A graduate of Columbia College, she was a dedicated educator. She used her musical gifts for singing and playing the piano at churches. But more than that, she was a child of God who loved everyone she met and spent thousands of hours in prayer.
She is survived by her four children: Anna Grimm and husband, Kerry, of Lexington, SC; Amy Hagerup and husband, Mark, of Dousman, WI; George Roth, Jr. “Rocky” and wife, Linda, of Hampton, GA; and Polly Hughes and husband, Don, of Jonesboro, GA.
Her legacy continues with 17 grandchildren, 9 grandchildren-in-love with one more joining the family this year, and 22 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
She was pre-deceased by her two brothers whom she loved very much, George H. Tompkins and C. Boyd Tompkins.
A celebration of life service for Margaret T. Roth will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
