Mr. Martin Ohara Gillette, Sr., age 86 of Woodbine, Ga., passed away on the evening of Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 at Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Fl.
Mr. Gillette was born on October 4th, 1938 in Kingsland, Ga. to the late Joseph and Kathleen Gillette. A lifelong member of Camden County, Georgia, Mr. Gillette was very active in his community. Mr. Gillette and his previous wife, Glenda, were the voices of the Camden County Tiny Tot contest for many years. He was a Camden Wildcat, part of the Kingsland fire department, Camden County Constable, Kingsland Mayor Pro Tem, and a long-time member and officer of the Lion’s Club. He was a Masonic Officer and Shriner for 50 years. Mr. Gillette retired from being a Judge in May 2013 after 20 years of service. He barged to Cumberland for over 45 years as well. Mr. Gillette will be missed greatly by his friends and family.
Mr. Gillette is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” (Hanvald) of Woodbine, Ga.; children, Marty (Becky) Gillette, Jr., of Kingsland, Ga., Tony (Sheli) Gillette of Jacksonville, Fl., and Allison Lindsey of Patterson, Ga.; his sisters, Ileen (Dan) Ruffin of Midway, Ga. and Glenda (Jimmy) Foddrell of Woodbine, Ga.; his brother, Dayton (Nancy) Gillette; his grandchildren, Kelly (Edd) Holland, Austin (Jessica) Gillette, Monica (Andrew) Hitch, Jenson (Nicole) Gillette, Amber Leigh Kain, and Zoe Lindsey; and his great-grandchildren, Asher Gillette, Evelyn Gillette, Iyla Holland, Cora Holland, Viola Holland, Azalea Holland, and Harper Hitch.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gillette was also preceded in passing by his wife, Glenda Gillette and brother, Joseph Gillette, Sr.
A visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga. Funeral Services will be 10 am Monday, April 7th, 2025 at Kingsland First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga. with miliary honors rendered.
