Mr. Martin Leonard ‘Tommy” Thomas, Jr., age 73 of Woodbine, Ga. passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Monday, September 12th, 2022 in St. Marys, Ga.
Mr. Thomas was born on November 28th, 1948 in Jacksonville, Fl. to the late Martin and Nona Geoghegan Thomas, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Camden County, Ga.
Martin L Thomas, Jr was called home to the lord on Monday, September 12, 2022. Although he was a life-long resident of Camden County, he never met a stranger. Martin’s kind heart and avid story-telling made him friends everywhere. He worked hard his entire life to support those he loved and served honorably in the US Army including a tour in Vietnam. Married to his wife, Mary, for 52 years, they created a loving home where he found himself wearing many different hats: Husband, Brother, Daddy, Papa, Snake Slayer. Although his grand kids and great grand babies hung the moon in his eyes, he also had a passion for hunting and fishing and a love of sports including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Georgia Bulldogs, Camden County Wildcats, and any team he got to watch his kids play on. If you didn’t find him surrounded by family, chances are you would find him at the St Mary’s boat ramp watching the tide. While his passing has left a hole in our hearts, we know that he gave his to make his great grandson’s complete. We have all gained an angel.
Mr. Martin is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Thomas of Woodbine, Ga.; his children, John (Adrienne) Thomas of Sharpsville, Pa., Kimberly Jamison and Tammy (Michael) Johnson, all of Kingsland, Ga. and Christopher (Keisha) Riggins of St. Marys, Ga.; his grandchildren, Cameron (Katlyn) Thomas, Jaccob Johnson, John “JD” (Lindsey) Johnson, Summer (Spencer) Ballard, Mikkole Johnson, Madisyn Riggins, and James Thomas; his great grandchildren, Kingston, Jax, Savannah, Braxton, and Stetson; his sisters, Ruth Ann (Chet) Berry and Susan (George) Perryman; his brother, Harry (Gloria) Thomas; and his in laws, Angela Trapnell, Debbie (Mike) Sutherland, Theresa Peeples and Jim Riggins.
Besides his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in passing by his sisters, Jane Batten & Aletha Reddick, and his brother, Allen Thomas.
A visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon Thursday, September 22nd, 2022 in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel of the funeral home at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there immediately at noon with Speaker Mike Sutherland presiding.
