Mr. Marvin Russell “Rusty” Neel, age 63 of Kingsland, Ga., passed away on the evening of March 23rd, 2023 at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys, Ga.
Mr. Neel was born on February 23rd, 1960 in New Orleans, La. to the late William and Peggy Neel.
Rusty was a journeyman carpenter for over 30 years. He worked on the Olympic Villages in Atlanta for the ’96 Olympics, the Proton Beam Building in Jacksonville, Fl., and numerous remodels of commercial buildings, courtrooms, and hospitals.
Rusty was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, river canoeing, caving, and riding his classic ’83 Honda Goldwing. He was a lover of cats, classic & southern rock, and the blues. You could find him relaxing with a cold beer and just enjoying life.
He had a wonderful, warped sense of humor, which is one of the things his wife, Debbie, loved about him the most. Rusty would also dress up for Halloween just for the fun of it, but also for winning free drinks at local costume contests.
Mr. Neel is survived by his wife, Deborah Cerri-Neel of Kingsland, Ga.; his sisters, Brenda (Larry) McKelvey of Canton, Ga., Nancy (Ron) Williams of Cummings, Ga., and Kathy Neel of Panama City Beach, Fl.; his brothers, Steven (Linda) Neel of Hammond, La., Ray (Bonnie) Neel of Ms., and Joseph Neel of Browntown, Ga.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
